DIY Lip Balm

This recipe was born out of my incessant ability to lose lip balms. I decided I may as well experiment and come up with an easy recipe to fulfill all my lib balm needs and I somehow succeeded (I can tell you for all my successes there are also many failed recipe attempts). I've been tweaking it here and there but have gotten many compliments off of this one, feel free to experiment and let me know what works for you!

*This recipe fills about 18 regular sized lip balm tubes*

INGREDIENTS:

1/3 Cup Beeswax (can be purchased at local farmers market)

1/3 Cup + 2 TBSP Coconut Oil

1 TSP Cocoa Butter

4 Drops Vitamin E (cut 1-2 Vitamin E capsules and squeeze)

4 Drops Peppermint Essential Oil (optional)

4 Drops Rosemary Essential Oil (optional)

Spare Lip Balm Containers (I bought mine on amazon)

STEPS:

  1. Fill a sauce pan with water and bring to a boil
  2. In a glass container (I use a glass measuring cup) combine Beeswax, Coconut Oil and Cocoa Butter
  3. Place glass container in the sauce pan so that it rests on top of the water like a double boiler (but this can be touching the water)
  4. Once completely melted, add in your Vitamin E and favourite Essential Oils
  5. Using a dropper (I use a medicine dropper), fill your lip balm container tubes
  6. Let sit for a few minutes until solid and place the cap on (they're usually solid in about 20-30 minutes)

ENJOY!
